Prime Minister Albin Kurti reacted after the Serbian List left the institutions of Kosovo.
Through a post on social networks, Kurti considers this act as an attempt at destabilization, while accusing Russia of turning into a tool of the Kremlin.
He calls on all Serbian citizens to keep calm, while emphasizing that he will serve them respecting the constitution and the law of Kosovo. Kurti further adds that he is not a prime minister against the Serbian majority in Kosovo, but says that Belgrade is against him.
"From November 1, reprimands or warnings have been issued to car drivers who carry illegal plates in the territory of Kosovo, the legacy of the Milosevic regime. To date, the number of reprimands issued is a total of 843. There have been no incidents and no complaints have been registered. We will continue like this for three weeks, that is, until November 21, when the fines begin as provided by law. Meanwhile, citizens with illegal license plates KM, PR etc. will be able to convert them to legal RKS with huge tax breaks.
Representatives of the Serbian List said a week ago that they will organize fierce resistance against the fines. However, they did not wait for November 21: Belgrade started threats and preparations for the destabilization of Kosovo. Therefore, something else is in question. It is clear what it is about: the president of Serbia has lied and disappointed Americans and Europeans; he very often meets and coordinates with the Russian ambassador in Belgrade. Serbia, not being a democratic country, is becoming a tool of the Kremlin. Also, it seems that the former spokesman of Milosevic's party, now the foreign minister of Serbia, is more powerful than the former minister of information of Milosevic, now the president of Serbia. This is their personal battle for power, neither for the citizens nor for the state.
With the Kumanova agreement of June 9, 1999, Serbia capitulated and said goodbye to Kosovo. There is no need to waste time and continue to delay even in 2022. By supporting Milošević and Sešel a quarter of a century ago, you left Kosovo. By supporting Putin and Lavrov today, you are leaving Europe.
I invite all Serbian citizens in Kosovo to maintain calm, peace and security. I am not the prime minister against you, but Belgrade is against me. I am the prime minister who will serve you while respecting the constitutionality and legality of the Republic of Kosovo. My priorities are the fight against corruption, i.e. justice, and economic development, i.e. employment; equality and well-being for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion or background. Do not boycott or abandon the institutions of Kosovo. They serve all of us, each and every one of you. Do not fall prey to political manipulations and geopolitical games. Let's all adhere to the democratic and European values of the rule of law, human and minority rights and freedoms, political pluralism," writes Kurti.
