A drunken woman was arrested on board the plane after attacking the crew and passengers and forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.

An unusual incident happened on a flight to Madeira, of the "Wizz Air" company. The woman appears to have been drinking and lost control. Eyewitnesses said she started screaming and attacking both the crew and other passengers.

Video circulating online shows police entering the plane and removing the woman from her seat after the pilot made an emergency landing believing there was a serious risk to the safety of the plane, crew and passengers.

The plane took off from London's Gatwick and was due to land in Madeira, but was forced to make an emergency stop in the Portuguese capital.

One passenger said: "We made an emergency landing in Lisbon because of a drunk female passenger who started attacking other passengers."
