An unusual event has shocked not only social networks, but also the business world in the US.
Andy Byron, CEO of technology company Astronomer, has resigned from his position following a public scandal that erupted during a Coldplay concert in Boston.
During the performance at Gillette Stadium, in front of more than 55,000 spectators, the smiling faces of Byron and Kristin Cabot, with whom he is suspected of having an extramarital affair, appeared on the giant screen on stage.
Their awkward reaction and attempt to hide from the cameras went viral online, sparking numerous discussions about their relationship and the impact on their professional lives.
Following the event, the Astronomer company, valued at over $1.3 billion, released an official statement confirming Byron's resignation.
"Our leaders are expected to be exemplary in both conduct and responsibility. Recently, this standard was not met. Andy Byron has submitted his resignation and the Board has accepted it," the announcement said.
In the interim, co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy will serve as CEO while the company begins a search for a new leader.
Byron took over Astronomer in July 2023, while the company is known as a pioneer in the field of DataOps and artificial intelligence.
Although its name has now been linked to a scandal, executives have stressed that its commitment to customers and product remains unchanged.
The event has caused a wave of reactions on social networks and international media, while footage from the stadium has been viewed by millions of users.
