The woman is believed to have been taken hostage from a car dealership Monday in Phoenix by a man wearing a wig and pretending to be a taxi driver, Yavapai police said .
The man is believed to have tied her up with plastic clips and driven her to Las Vegas while they spent Monday night at Lake Mead Park , the sheriff's office said.
On Tuesday when they had stopped at a gas station in Seligman, Arizona, the woman had left a note in the hand of a customer there with the note " help, call 911 " referring to the emergency number, announced authorities who had released a photo of the note.
Officers received a description of the woman and man from the witness, who told them they were traveling on Interstate 40 .
The van was subsequently intercepted and the suspect - identified as Jacob Wilhoit , 41 - was taken into custody without incident, while his vehicle had several firearms in full view from outside the vehicle. Wilhoit was booked for hostage-taking, imprisonment and assault on the person.
Officials said the victim and the suspect knew each other. The victim was declared missing by her mother, who also mentioned Wilhoit as a person of interest in the case. Authorities said they will soon release more details on the incident.
