The video that captures the seven young men arrested for the rape that happened in Foro Italico in Palermo on July 7 has been found. The prosecution's technical consultants have managed to track down the original footage.
Meanwhile, from the wiretapping of the suspects' phones immediately after the victim's denunciation, a sentence uttered by the author of the video emerges: "I sent it to whoever I wanted".
After the 18-year-old was taken to the Foro Italico in Palermo and raped there, she denounced the violence, naming several perpetrators of the rape, and the investigators tapped the suspects' cellphones. The eldest of seven boys was overheard telling a friend that he had sent the video to someone. A sentence that came after the boy he was talking to, worried that the victim might report the rape, had advised him to delete videos that might have framed him and his friends.
"But now I'm eliminating them all, I'm sending them to whoever I need to send them to and I'll eliminate them," the eldest of the seven arrested, as well as the author of the video, answers to his friend. A phrase that leads investigators to believe the footage was shared with someone. Yes, but with whom? Other friends? Adults? Did he sell it on the dark web? Investigators are establishing to whom the young man may have sent the images and for what purpose. Meanwhile, the prefect of Palermo has asked the city's security committee to increase controls in the most dangerous neighborhoods.
