Prigozhin had predicted everything, here is the will he left behind and the
Tributes to Prigozh

Yevgeny Prigozhin was sure that he would die early. He had long prepared a plan of action to carry out at the time of his disappearance. A kind of will: he would leave his business to his son Pavel, the command of Wagner's mercenaries, Dmitry Utkin. He had even thought of a "plan C" in case, as later happened, Utkin, the man who had christened the company after his battle name, also died.

In this case, command of the "musicians" would pass to the Council of Commanders under the leadership - rumored - of Anton Elizarov, codenamed "Lotos", a former air force colonel who had led the invasion of Soledar. According to various sources, Lotos is currently located in Africa. From this, it seems, the long silence of the Council, which should have issued a statement after the crash of the plane that cut off the heads of the leaders of the Brigade. "A well-built system awaits its new leader. Or the announcement of dissolution", the Wagnerites now comment on a semi-official Telegram channel.

New leader or not, however, according to a Russian military intelligence source quoted by Al Monitor, little changes. "Wagner's plan of action in the event of the leader's death was of a temporary nature. It by no means implied a fully autonomous mode of operation. Without Prigozhin, it is impossible to operate a business that is in conflict with the very state structures that created this business." Moreover, for two months, Wagner has been but a shadow of what he was. Yes, its legacy remains: a model of paramilitary society, indirectly linked to the Russian state, which is setting the standards, as well as contract recruitment and prisoner recruitment. But, in fact, the company of "musicians" died together with its leaders, whose bodies were found together with the black boxes at the site of the plane crash. the Investigative Committee confirmed yesterday. Among them, not only Prigozhin and Utkin, but also the head of logistics Valery Chekalov.

Their announced deaths now leave the field open for Vladimir Putin. If in Africa he entrusted the deputy chief of military intelligence Gru Andrey Averjanov with the task of replacing Wagner with regular troops, internally he began to rethink the structure of this parallel empire and also how to redefine the sector of private military companies. The first move came yesterday: a presidential decree forcing thousands of mercenaries to take the same oath as regular army soldiers. They will have to swear "loyalty" to Russia, "strictly follow the orders of their commanders and superiors" and "respect the Russian Constitution".

A further submission appended to the contract of submission to the Defense that all militia leaders had to sign by July 1st. But this is not enough. In the pro-government newspapers, many have once again advocated the legalization of the private military companies, Chastnje Voennye Kompaniji (ChVK), or, alternatively, their dissolution and eventual transfer under the control of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. At the moment, in fact, ChVKs operate in a legal gray area: the criminal code explicitly prohibits them, but allows state and private companies to employ armed security forces.

It is no coincidence that yesterday Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled that Wagner "does not exist, legally." Eager to save face after negotiating the deal that granted Prigozhin and other rebel leaders immunity in exchange for exile in his country, Belarusian dictator Aleksandr Lukashenko insisted that "Wagner lived, is alive and will live in Belarus" without specifying however for which mission and for how long. "Someone went on vacation, someone decided to live on the sidelines, but in a few days everyone will be here, up to 10 thousand people."

Lukashenko was also quick to please Putin, declaring that he "cannot imagine him" as the instigator of Prigozhin's death. The same line as the Kremlin. Speculation that Putin ordered the assassination of Wagner's leader, Peskov said, is "an absolute lie."
