Two new satellite images have revealed several unidentified objects located on the terrace of Reactor 4 at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine.

The satellite images, released by Planet Labs, were taken on July 5, a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Russian forces had undermined the nuclear power plant, which is Europe's largest.

Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency carried out a two-day check on the premises of the nuclear power plant, but declared that they had not found any signs of mines or explosives. However, the IAEA said in a press release that its experts had not had access to all the premises of the plant, and especially the terrace.

The photographs show three white objects located at a distance from each other on the terrace of Reactor 4. Commenting on the footage, President Zelensky said that Ukraine already has intelligence information that the Russians have placed explosives in the nuclear power plant, likely to stimulate any explosion.

However, experts say it is almost impossible to verify through these photographs whether or not the objects are explosive. For several weeks, the parties in Ukraine and Russia have pointed the finger at each other, raising accusations that they are preparing the explosion of the nuclear plant.

If such a thing were to happen, it would be a catastrophe of incalculable human and ecological proportions. The Zaporizhia nuclear power plant is the largest in Europe and has four reactors that produce atomic energy.
