After the Kherson region was retaken by Ukraine, President Volodomyr Zelensky said Ukrainian troops were closing in on the city.

He said that "after they have reached the borders, they will start with "stabilization measures", as he warned that the Russian forces had left behind many mines and explosives, "especially in vital objects".

"Ukrainian soldiers will be assisted by police, rescuers and energy workers. Medicine, communication, social services are coming back again," Zelensky added during a speech on Telegram.
