Danger from fires, France announces "red alert"

In the Var region in the south of France, a "red alert" has been announced as the scorching temperatures are presenting a very high risk of fires.

The French Meteorological Administration warned that tomorrow there will be a "very high risk of fires" in the Var region.

A "red alert" has been activated in the region, as the air temperatures that have reached above the seasonal norm are posing a risk of causing forest fires and spreading the flames.

In addition, a lower risk level, "orange alert", has been announced in the Bouches-du-Rhone region, while for the Aude, Herault, le Gard, Aveyron, Ardeche, Drome, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-de-Haute regions -Provence, Alpes-Maritimes, Vaucluse, Haute-In Corse and Corse-du-Sud vigilance was requested regarding the risk of fires.

On the other hand, the large and small fires that broke out in some regions, such as Haute-Corse and Nice, were brought under control within a short time with the intervention of the fire brigade.
