Ali Ahmeti meets the condition of the opposition: DUI ministers will resign!
The President of DUI Ali Ahmeti

DUI President Ali Ahmeti sent a public letter to Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski through a Facebook status, saying that DUI ministers and officials will resign if the constitutional changes are voted by the opposition.

BEING based on the condition of the opposition that they would vote for constitutional changes if the Democratic Union for Integration leaves the Government, since the Democratic Union for Integration and I remain committed to determining that Euro-Atlantic integration, with full rights of the state, except that in NATO, also in the European Union, as well as the unbroken alliance with the United States of America, we have been, are and remain the greatest interest of all our citizens, regardless of their national and religious affiliation, we ministers and government officials from the ranks of the Democratic Union for Integration, we resign from the positions we are currently holding! Resignations, Mr. Prime Minister, they are automatically effective at the moment when the opposition votes on the constitutional changes" - writes Ahmeti.

On Tuesday (July 25), the Commission for Constitutional Affairs in the Assembly of North Macedonia approved the Government's proposal for constitutional changes. Then they must be approved in the plenary session, scheduled to be held on August 18.

The changes proposed by the Government are related to the inclusion of the Bulgarian minority in the preamble of the Constitution, as a state-forming people.

This is foreseen with what is known as the "French proposal" for solving open issues with Bulgaria, related to identity, language and historical aspects.

The agreement with Bulgaria, based on the "French proposal", enabled North Macedonia to officially open membership negotiations with the European Union (EU) on July 19, 2022.

However, these talks will not be able to continue for the chapters if the official Skopje does not fulfill the main condition of the agreement, the inclusion of the Bulgarian minority in the Constitution.
