The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, has said that the authorities in Serbia have rejected the request for a visit to Presevo.
Sveçla said that the request was rejected without justification and that "this act of Serbia towards my visit proves its destructive approach and continuous oppression of the Albanians of the Valley".
Through an article on Facebook, on January 4, Sweden said that regarding the issue of visits by state officials, they will act on the principles of reciprocity.
He said that through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora he had forwarded the agenda to the liaison office of Serbia for an entry permit and carrying out the visit, "in compliance with the Brussels agreement and current practices".
"This refusal without any justification from Serbia a few hours before the visit does not diminish our goals and commitment to the Albanians of the Valley. Among other things, it will not diminish my desire and purpose to visit there, to share with the Albanians of the Valley the concerns and injustices they face and the commitments of the institutions of our Republic for them", he wrote.
According to the Minister of the Interior, he would conduct visits to Presheva, a municipality inhabited by an Albanian majority, and to Medvegja and Bujanoc, where Albanians also live./ REL
