The leader of VMRO-DPMNE and the future prime minister of North Macedonia, Christian Mickoski reacted once again on the issue of the country's name, after criticism from neighbors and international partners.

Mickoski expressed his commitment that the constitutional name North Macedonia will be used in official communication and that he will implement the Prespa Agreement, as he added that he himself will call the country "Macedonia".

"Everything included in the Prespa agreement, including the name part, the future VMRO-DPMNE government will respect. In fact, in the certificates certifying the mandate of our deputies, name identification is used. Even the draft law that we passed today was presented with that name.

But my human right, guaranteed by many conventions, is the right to freedom of speech and expression. I don't get mad at politicians when they don't say the full name of their country. For me, my homeland in every statement I make is Macedonia and it will remain Macedonia", said Mickoski.

The reaction comes after the announcement of the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, that he will raise the issue of the Prespa Agreement between the two countries during a future NATO summit.

The rhetoric between Skopje and Athens has recently intensified regarding the Prespa Agreement, regarding the use of the constitutional name of North Macedonia.
