Japanese authorities have called on citizens to "stay indoors" and "find shelter immediately" after North Korea launched a ballistic missile.

The missile was launched towards the prefecture of Okinawa, while according to some unconfirmed reports, it malfunctioned and exploded in the air. It is suspected that the rocket was intended to launch a "spy" satellite into space.

As tensions have risen in the region following rumors that China is preparing to invade Taiwan, experts have warned of possible provocations by North Korea in collaboration with the Kremlin.
