On the 1,212th day of the conflict in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin has given new signals about a possibility of negotiations, but with clear conditions.

During a meeting with the heads of major international news agencies, the Kremlin chief stated that he does not consider NATO rearmament as a direct threat to Russia.

Also in the spotlight was his willingness to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but only at a final stage of negotiations, with the aim of ending the war.

However, Putin raised a delicate issue through a direct comment: “The question is who will sign the agreement,” he said, questioning the legitimacy of Zelensky, whose term ended in May 2024. Due to martial law, presidential elections in Ukraine have not been held.

On the Ukrainian side, tensions with Moscow continue to rise even beyond traditional borders.

According to Andriy Chernyak, representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Russia is expanding its military presence in the Arctic, a development considered strategic for controlling areas with natural resources and new maritime approaches.
