Apocalyptic view from Dubai / Airplanes float in water, rain floods shopping
Flooding in Dubai

Unusual rainfall has caused massive flooding in Dubai, causing the airport to be closed for several hours and dozens of flights to be cancelled.

In some areas, the water level has reached over one meter, flooding roads and thousands of cars.

Many employees have been told to stay at home, while footage on social media shows an unusual situation.

The water has flooded inside the shopping centers causing the flooding of many shops.

Dubai uses "cloud seeding," an artificial method to create rain, but it remains unclear whether this contributed to today's flooding.

Rain also fell in Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
