The scorching heat of these days is expected to continue throughout the month of August, as the experts of the World Meteorological Organization warn.
"The planetary waves that are developing these heat waves are very difficult to get rid of. They are almost immobile. That's why we have to wait, or at least calculate that this extreme heat will continue throughout August".
Based on this reasoning, John Nern predicts that in the coming years, heat waves will not be limited to only 3 months of summer, but will double in duration, stretching across half the year.
Scientists put the main blame for global warming on the burning of fuels and the high release of carbon dioxide, which according to them heats the water of the oceans causing the El Niño phenomenon.
The warm air generated by the oceans is blocking the cold currents from the North Pole, to balance the temperatures mainly in Europe and the entire Northern Hemisphere.
