Amidst the rubble of a building in the earthquake-hit Syrian city of Jandairis, rescuers have discovered a newborn under the rubble, still attached to her late mother's umbilical cord. The girl became the only survivor of a family after the collapse of a four-story building.
In the country bordering Turkey, rescue teams have found the body of her father, mother, three sisters, brother and aunt.
"While we were digging, we heard a noise, cleaned up and found this little girl, thank God," said a witness. The baby still had the umbilical cord attached to her mother. "We cut him and a cousin of mine took him to the hospital," added the witness. A video on social media shows a man carrying the dust-covered newborn away from the rubble, while another throws a blanket over her.

The little one was taken to a hospital near the city of Afrin, where she was placed in an incubator and underwent vitamin treatment. Her condition is stable, doctors said. Most likely, it was born a few hours after the earthquake.
