A serious incident has occurred in Liverpool where, during the celebrations of the victory of the FC Liverpool football team, a vehicle drove at high speed into a crowd of fans, crashing into the crowd. As a result, 27 people were reportedly injured, including four children.

The incident occurred as the team was traveling to the city in an open-top bus to celebrate the championship title, on a route of about ten miles, where nearly a million people were expected to participate.

Police have detained the driver of the car, a 53-year-old British man from the local area. The motive for the incident is still unclear and investigations are ongoing. Authorities said the incident was reported at around 6pm local time. Eyewitnesses said they heard screams and saw a dark-coloured car drive through the crowd, causing chaos.

Official reactions were not lacking. Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his shock on Platform X: "My thoughts are with the injured and all those affected. I thank the police and emergency services for their rapid response." The Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, also described the situation as "horrific and shocking scenes."

Multiple emergency services responded to the scene. The North West Ambulance Service said it was working with other teams to provide the necessary medical assistance to the injured.
