US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Egypt this week to discuss, among other things, efforts to reach a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The news was announced by the State Department.

Blinken will co-chair the opening session of the Strategic Dialogue between Washington and Cairo, which plays the role of mediator in the ceasefire negotiations, along with the United States and Qatar.

However, unlike other times, Blinken's tenth trip to the Middle East since October 7, 2023, does not include a stop in Israel for talks with its leaders.

Meanwhile, as a result of an Israeli attack (September 16), at least 16 people lost their lives, among them four children.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, it has reached over 41,000 and according to its data, over half of those killed are women and children.

The Hamas-Israel war began on October 7, 2023, following an attack by Hamas militants in southern Israel that killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapped another 250.
