The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, stated today in a joint press conference with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the head of the Albanian government, Edi Rama, that the opening of negotiations is a step that the citizens of his country have waited for 17 years.

He affirmed that this is the best possible solution that enables the recognition of the Macedonian language as one of the official languages ​​of the European Union, giving it the opportunity for a great promotion.

" This will promote progress in other countries. We will continue as we have done so far in an excellent way in the interest of our citizens. We will work for ourselves and the acceleration of the integration process. It is a great pleasure that after 17 years we are opening a new perspective for the country and our citizens.

The best possible solution is in red lines and offers the opportunity to open negotiations. This has been of great importance to us. I see the open doors for the Macedonian language as one of the biggest successes. Macedonian language will have a big promotion.

They will be able to hear it and our identity will remain what it is. The EU will be richer. RMV, as from its natural aspects, belongs to the EU and our country is in the EU.

We will continue to work and operate in this way. So, we are ready for the EU. If we can predict a start date, this will be a historic date ", asserted the Macedonian Prime Minister.
