We have seen proposals that did not go well, for example when the girl says "No" and the boy gets upset, but the case of a Turkish couple is shocking. 

Police have jailed  Nizamettin Gursu  months after his 39-year-old girlfriend Yesim Demir fell into a chasm in the northern Turkish city on July 6. At the time it was reported as an accidental event, but investigations brought to light the bitter truth.

Police discovered that the ring that Gursu was supposed to give to Yesim was still in his pocket inside a box.

This contradicted what the young man had stated, since according to him his girlfriend said "Yes" to the marriage proposal and then accidentally fell from the top of the cliff.

If she had said "Yes", the ring should have been on her finger...

Suspicions grew when they found shards of glass and a broken musical instrument 100 meters down the cliff.

It is learned that the family members of the 39-year-old had stated earlier that Yesim suffered from anxiety and would never approach such an abyss.

Her friends even said that she planned to break up with Gursu, when Demir died, Gursu played the role of heartbroken fiance.

He declared to the police that he had prepared the most romantic scene for his love, but after drinking alcohol she lost her balance and fell down.

According to the Turkish authorities, the young woman did not die at the scene, but died of her injuries in the hospital.
