Watch the Med said it had lost contact with about 40 illegal migrants who were on board a boat that left the coast of Libya.

Italian media have quoted the organization as saying the ship was on its way to the island of Lampedusa, noting that the European border protection agency Frontex and the Italian coast guard searched for the boat without success.

Watch Med has indicated that it has notified the authorities in this regard, but no information has yet been released about the boat and there has been no news of its arrival on shore so far.
