The MP of the Green Party in New Zealand, Golriz Ghahraman , has resigned after facing accusations of shoplifting.
Police suspect that Ghahraman has shoplifted 3 times from 2 clothing stores, one in Auckland and the other in Wellington.
Ghahraman said the stress related to her job caused her to act in ways that are completely out of character.
"I have disappointed many people and I am very sorry. It is not a behavior that I can explain because it is not rational in any way and after medical evaluation I understand that I am not well. "The mental health professional says my recent behavior is consistent with recent events causing extreme stress reactions and dealing with previously unknown trauma," she said, adding that she did not want to justify herself.
