The situation in the Middle East has entered a new phase of escalation following Iran's recent attacks on Israel and the reported attack on a US base in Qatar.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it has launched the 21st wave of attacks as part of Operation True Promise III, using for the first time the Kheybar ballistic missile with multiple warheads. The development demonstrates an increase in Iran's technological and tactical capabilities, as well as a clear message to its adversaries in the region.

According to the IRGC, the latest attacks included solid and liquid-fueled missiles, along with smart drones, targeting various targets throughout the occupied Israeli territories. The Guards' statement explicitly states that its actions are part of an ongoing operation to undermine Israel's air defenses and maintain constant pressure on Israeli territory.

Attack on US base in Qatar, a dangerous signal

Iranian state television reported that an operation had been launched against a US base in Qatar. The development represents a direct extension of the conflict beyond Israel's borders and signals that Iran is ready to strike the US presence in the region as part of retaliation for US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities on June 13.

The move poses a serious challenge to the US and its allies in the Persian Gulf. The attack on Qatar, which hosts one of the most important US bases in the region, comes at a time when Washington has warned of the risk of a wider conflict and has put its troops on high alert.

While Iran presents these attacks as "national defense," the direct involvement of US military facilities and the use of more sophisticated weapons will force a high-caliber response from the US and regional allies.

This development also comes against the backdrop of rising tensions between Iran and Western powers, where criticism of Israeli actions (such as the attack on Evin prison, which endangered the lives of two French citizens) has been accompanied by increased international pressure to reduce tensions. However, Iran's recent moves show that the country is not ready to back down from the confrontation.

Towards a broad confrontation?

The use of advanced multi-warhead missiles, the continued attacks on Israel, and the expansion of targets towards US bases such as the one in Qatar, show that the conflict is entering a much more dangerous phase. If these escalations are not stopped, the region risks being drawn into a wider conflict with unpredictable consequences, involving not only Israel and Iran, but also the US and other key Middle Eastern states.
