US President Donald Trump on Friday demanded "unconditional surrender" from the Iranian regime, the strongest statement made by the US administration since the start of the military operation against Iran a week ago.

The US president made the statement on the social network Truth Social, emphasizing that there will be no other agreement with Tehran other than complete capitulation.

"There will be no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender," Trump wrote, adding that after the conflict ends, "acceptable and good" new leaders for the country should be elected.

He also promised that the US and its allies would help rebuild Iran after the war.

"Iran will have a great future. Make Iran Great Again (MIGA)," Trump wrote.

His statement comes hours after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that several countries have launched mediation efforts to end the conflict.

He stressed that Iran is ready for lasting peace in the region, but will not hesitate to defend its sovereignty.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Arab foreign ministers in phone calls that the war could last several more weeks. According to him, the current military objective is to strike Iran's missile launchers, stockpiles and weapons factories.

American and Israeli officials claim that about 60% of Iran's missile launchers and stockpiles have been destroyed.

According to Admiral Brad Cooper, missile attacks from Iran have dropped by about 90% compared to the first day of the war.

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes have struck a fortified bunker beneath the compound of former Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei, believed to be used as an emergency command center.

The Israeli military is verifying whether senior Iranian officials were inside the facility at the time of the attack.
