The earthquake in Turkey and Syria, the number of victims exceeds 8,400

The death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria is now at least 8,424, according to officials.

In Syria, 2,530 casualties have been confirmed in both government-held and rebel-held areas. A total of 4,654 injured were reported in all Syrian territories.

In Turkey, at least 5,894 people have been killed and 34,810 injured, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said on Tuesday.
