A three-year-old boy died tragically in south-east Australia when he was hit by his father's lawnmower.

The child was taken to the hospital, where despite the efforts of the doctors, he could not survive his injuries.

"The father came back to the child when he was mowing the grass. He didn't see it," a police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia.

"I don't think there's anything you can do to dad that would change the way he feels, unfortunately," added a police spokesman.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy, but are not expected to press charges against the child's father.
