The Prizren-Durrës railway can be called "Karl Gega", said the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti during his speech at the Kosovo-Austria Economic Forum, inviting the government and Austrian companies to join the infrastructure projects that include the railways.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has called on the government and Austrian companies to join Kosovo in the construction of the Prizren-Durrës railway.
During his speech at the Kosovo-Austria Economic Forum, Kurti took the example of the work of Karl Gega, a well-known engineer for railway design, adding that Kosovo needs a technical expertise like his.
The Prime Minister even said that "why not name the railway after him, Karl Gega".
"Early Karl Gega received a doctorate in mathematical sciences, he was a well-known engineer. He was given the title of knight by the Kingdom of Austria and is buried next to the most eminent persons of Austria, such as Mozart. The construction of railway lines in Austria are the result of Karl Gega. He has lived in Austria, so we know you have to have great expertise to build big projects. I invite the Austrian government and companies to join us in infrastructure projects involving railways. We want to build the Prizren-Durrës railway and we need a technical expertise like that of Karl Gega and why not even name the railway line Karl Gega ”.
Kurti, among other things, told the Austrians that Kosovo is the best place to do business.
"Kosovo has become a much friendlier environment for doing business. We have created over 25 thousand new jobs, economic development so far according to the statistical agency of Kosovo, is 10.53 percent. By last year, the value of exports had reached 2.7 billion, up 80 percent. The value of goods has risen to 62 percent. Exports have increased to 104 percent. "With the new government, the commitment to the rule of law, transparency and effectiveness, we are not only implementing democratic principles, but we are also breaking records one by one," said Kurti.
Earlier it was reported that in 2023 the design phase of the railway will begin so that from 2024 work will begin on the new railway that will connect Albania with Kosovo.
