Russia's Defense Ministry said today that it has tested the new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said the successful launch, from Plesetsk in the northwest of the country, would be "food for the mind" for those who threaten Russia.
"It has the highest tactical and technical characteristics and is capable of surpassing all modern means of missile defense. "There are no analogues in the world and there will not be for a long time," Putin said.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense, quoted by the Interfax News Agency, states: "The launch objectives were fully achieved. The planned performance specifications were confirmed at all stages of the flight.
