France declared that it will recognize the Palestinian state, Israel condemns

France will officially recognize the Palestinian state in September, President Emmanuel Macron has said, making it the first G7 country to do so.

Palestinian officials have welcomed the decision, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it "rewards terror."

Meanwhile, Macron says he and others have an obligation to show that peace is possible, adding that "the urgent priority today is to end the war and bring relief to the people of Gaza."
