France will recognize the State of Palestine

France will officially recognize the State of Palestine.

The news was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron, adding that he will make the official announcement during the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September.

"Faithful to its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine. I will announce this solemn decision at the United Nations General Assembly next September," Macron wrote on social media.

"The urgency today is to end the war in Gaza and save the civilian population. Peace is possible. France wants peace in the Middle East. It is up to us, the French, together with the Israelis, the Palestinians and our international partners, to show that this is possible," added the French head of state.
