Financial Times: Moscow is helping Iran build a supersonic missile to hit the US

Iran is collaborating with Russia on the development of a new supersonic cruise missile, with the aim of further strengthening its military capabilities.

According to an investigation by the Financial Times, the project is called C430L and is related to the development of a very fast and maneuverable missile, which can be used against US aircraft carriers and important military targets.

The project began to take shape in 2023, when Tehran and Moscow began technical cooperation. Iranian engineers studied ramjet engine technology and then sought the help of Russian specialists to develop the system.

According to the report, the project involved the Russian company Rosoboronexport and the arms manufacturer Mashinostrenya, which is under US sanctions. The cooperation has included the exchange of data, analysis and test results. Russian specialists have traveled to Iran, while Iranian experts have sent test data and sought advice on improving the missile.

However, the project is not yet complete. Tehran's goal is to create a weapon that can move at high speed and change direction in flight, making it more difficult for defense systems to intercept.

The cooperation is part of increasingly close military ties between Iran and Russia. Moscow has provided Tehran with military equipment and technology, while Iran has supplied Russia with thousands of Shahed drones, used in the war in Ukraine.

Russia's experience in using these drones in Ukraine was later shared with Iran. Tehran has used these experiences to improve the way it uses drones in its military operations.

Russia and China have also reportedly provided Iran with satellite data on US bases and the movements of US naval and air forces. The cooperation between the two countries is not limited to weapons. Russia has also helped Iran with radar technology, intelligence, and tools for surveillance and control of adversaries.

Despite this closeness, there has also been criticism of Russia in Iran. Some Iranian officials and political figures have claimed that Moscow has not done enough to support Tehran in the most difficult moments of its confrontation with the US and Israel.

However, so far Iran has continued to strengthen its military capabilities and cooperation with Russia, while the C430L project remains one of the most important programs of this cooperation.
