Napoleon's two pistols are sold for a "crazy" price at auction!

Two decorated pistols that belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte and were valued at between 1.2 and 1.5 million euros have been sold at auction for a record figure.

The pistols used in 1814, classified as " national treasures ", were sold together with their precious wooden case inlaid with gold and silver, featuring the profile of the emperor, for 1.69 million euros by the Osenat auction house.

Auction houses Osenat and Rossini, organizers of the auction in Fontainebleau, have not disclosed any information about the buyer, but consider the sale a success.

Napoleon I had commissioned these pistols from the gunsmith Louis Marin Gosset. They are related to his suicide attempt at Fontainebleau on the night of April 12-13, 1814, during his first abdication.
