Luxury stores in Paris have barricaded their windows with wood or metal panels, fearing violent protests, at the end of the vote.
France holds its second round of elections today, with the far-right Rassemblement National being seen as a contender to win. The left has formed an alliance to prevent their victory.

More than 30,000 police officers have been engaged to ensure calm, while fears exist for violent protests against the far-right.
The most dissatisfied are the millions of foreigners in France who fear being deported in the event of a Marine Le Pen victory, but also Muslims, who are outraged by the latter's declaration that he will "ban hijab by law" if he comes to power.
Similar protests have been accompanied by mass destruction, arson and looting of luxury stores.
