One move by Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon was enough to make him the target of former Serbian minister Zorana Mihajlovic, who is recently returning to public life in the country.

During the morning program on "Pink" television, Mihajlovic openly attacked Djokovic for indirectly supporting student protests against the government of Aleksandar Vu?i?.

According to several portals in Serbia, even pro-government media have begun to target their best athlete by linking him to Kosovo.

"You have Novak Djokovic's statement. Without a doubt, he is a fantastic athlete, but also a taxpayer of Monaco. His family is from Kosovo, he won Wimbledon and now he is making a fuss. First, he hides behind his children - which I think is very ugly - and, secondly, he sides with those who commit violence in this country and supports those who want an independent Kosovo," the former minister declared.

After both the first and second round victories, the athlete celebrated by simulating cheers, an action that became a symbol of the protests in Serbia that have continued since December of last year.

Students, with the help of citizens, have been paralyzing life in Serbia for a week by blocking roads and railways.

Protesters are demanding the holding of extraordinary elections, the release of arrested students, and the removal of the tent camp that officials of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) have set up between the Presidency and Parliament buildings in Belgrade.
