A rare natural phenomenon hit Turkey this Friday, with snowfall covering several regions of the country's northeast, while the rest of the territory is experiencing extreme temperatures and facing massive fires.
According to local media reports, unusual snow for the month of July fell on mountainous areas, creating a stark contrast to the rest of the country where temperatures have exceeded 40°C.
Images posted on social media show roads and fields covered in snow, while residents express surprise at this extreme change in weather in the middle of summer.

Meanwhile, in southern and western Turkey, hundreds of firefighters have been tasked with extinguishing dozens of fires that have spread due to scorching heat and strong winds, with many residents evacuated from their homes as a safety measure.

Turkish meteorologists describe the situation as extraordinary and warn that climate change is increasingly affecting the increase in extreme phenomena, which can occur at the same time but in different geographical areas.
Local officials have called for increased caution and following official recommendations, both due to the difficult weather conditions and the risk of further spread of the fires.
