Osmani: Due to belgrade pressure, citizens refused to participate

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani reacted to the referendum in the northern municipalities.

Osmani said that Kosovo gave citizens of the northern municipalities the opportunity to remove the current mayors and elect new mayors.

"The public largely did not take advantage of this opportunity. Unfortunately, this was mainly due to pressure from Belgrade, executed by the Serb List and illegal criminal structures. Once again, Serbia committed illegal interference in another state's election process. Once again, Vucic violated the word he had given to international partners.

But Kosovo again demonstrated maturity, organization and full respect of the laws and constitution, offering all communities, indiscriminately, the opportunity for them to choose who they want to represent.

I thank the Central Election Commission, our security institutions, as well as our partners for their work, dedication and cooperation. With the organization of today's process, Kosovo has met all the requirements required by the EU. The unfair measures against Kosovo must be removed immediately," Osmani wrote.
