US President Joe Biden says he believes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is making a "mistake" in his handling of Gaza. "I think what he is doing is a mistake. I don't agree with his approach," he said in an interview.
Biden said Gaza should have "total access to all food and medicine" for the next six to eight weeks. Last week he warned that continued US support for the war depended on Israel being allowed more food and medicine. Israel has denied that it has prevented aid from entering or distributing it inside Gaza and has accused UN agencies of failing to get the aid it is allowed to people who need it.
Talks have failed for weeks to produce a ceasefire agreement, but international pressure is mounting.
The hour-long interview was recorded last Wednesday — after the Israeli army killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers — and aired Tuesday night on Spanish-language US network Univision.
