The Israeli government has announced that it has agreed to US President Donald Trump's proposal to establish a ceasefire with Iran, following increased tensions between the two countries.

In a statement issued by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office, it is said that Israel will adhere to the ceasefire agreement, but warns that it will react "with force" to any violation of it by Iran.

“We have achieved our strategic objective of eliminating the Iranian regime’s nuclear and ballistic missile threat,” the statement said. The Israeli government also thanked President Donald Trump for “his defense support and active participation in reaching this historic agreement.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to make a public statement later in the day, where he is expected to provide more details on the agreement and next steps.
