A 38-year-old Greek woman accused of attempted murder after throwing acid on her husband has been sentenced to prison, according to the country's media.

The event happened in the early hours of Saturday, October 22, in a hotel in Heraklion, the 38-year-old woman, according to her lawyers, claimed that she was raped by the 36-year-old victim, adding that she was also raped by her husband that night.

She also stated that she was scared and therefore did not immediately surrender to the authorities.

The 38-year-old's lawyers, Apostolos Lytras and Manolis Drakonakis, in their statements pointed out that their client rejected claims about the existence of another woman involved in the case, stressing that after the acid attack, which she said she had bought online, checked out of the hotel by myself and then took a taxi.

In her statement, she said she feared for her life and had received constant threats.

How did the 38-year-old surrender to the authorities?

3 days after the event and one day after the arrest warrant was issued, she voluntarily surrendered to the authorities on Tuesday, accompanied by her lawyer Apostolos Lytra.

In fact, she was handed over to a pre-arranged location after the notification of the Greek police and was taken to the Heraklion Police Station shortly after 19:00 last Tuesday.

Her father's attitude

Her father's statements regarding the incident create the impression that he supports the 36-year-old saying that his daughter is lying and that her husband did not abuse her.

Her father's statement also contradicts what her daughter and her lawyer, Apostolos Lytras, claims.
