Tragic balance after a rocket attack on a railway station in Ukraine.

At least 22 people were killed after the Russians fired rockets on May 6, marking the first day of fighting since the invasion began on February 24.

Ukrainian authorities say five of the victims of the attack in the eastern town of Chaplyne were burned to death in a vehicle. An 11-year-old boy is also among the dead, the BBC reports.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the attack in the middle of a UN Security Council meeting. He said that around 50 people were injured.

Russia has so far made no comment. Moscow has repeatedly denied targeting civilian infrastructure.

Zelensky said he learned of the attack in Chaplyne, Dnipropetrovsk region, while preparing to speak to the Security Council, adding: "This is how Russia prepared for the UN Security Council meeting." "Four passenger coaches are on fire now... the death toll may rise," he continued.

In April, an attack at another train station killed more than 50 people.

Ukraine marked its independence anniversary yesterday, and Zelensky had previously said that Russia could do something "cruel" to disrupt the celebrations.
