The full testimony of Majlinda Mara, a 41-year-old woman from the village of Rremull i Burrelit, who on November 4, 2026, decided to burn her 89-year-old father with 1.5 liters of gasoline, is revealed.
The investigative file provided by journalist Elton Qyno shows that this is not the only case where the girl wanted to kill her father through arson, as there was another previous episode that was not reported to the Burrel police.
This episode was kept hidden from the family and the injured party, Adem Mara, leading to a repeat of the case, which was even more serious. The cause of the repeated arson was the constant quarrels that the daughter Majlinda Mara had with her father, Adem Mara.
In her testimony given to the Burrel police, Majlinda Mara, who works at a kindergarten, stated that:
“…I have my own bedroom, my father has his bedroom and my brother and his wife have their own room. About a year ago I had surgery near my left eye after a pimple appeared and after the surgery I had arguments with my father Adem Mara, about trivial things because he yells at me for no reason. About a month ago I bought a 1.5 liter bottle of gasoline and hid it in a place in the yard of the apartment.
Today, November 4, 2026, at around 6:20 in the morning, I woke up, took a match with pins, went and got the bottle of gasoline, which I had hidden in the yard of the house and entered the bedroom of my father, Adem Mara, who was sleeping and poured gasoline on the carpet of the room that was laid in the middle of the room and then, I lit a match, which I had in my pocket and set it on fire…”.
Majlinda Mara further stated that after the arson, she left and went outside to go to work, but was stopped by the Burrel police.
"...when the flames spread throughout the room and my father's bedclothes caught fire, I went out into the hallway and my father started screaming and my brother, Gëzim's wife, Servetja, came and took my father Adem out of the room. After a while, I left the house to go to work and as soon as I went out to the gate, the police came and escorted me to the police station..." - she claimed to the police.
Regarding this incident, Mjalinda Mara's sister-in-law, citizen Servete Mara, was also questioned, who told the Burrel police that:
"...the flames engulfed the furniture, carpet, a partially damaged wooden bed, and bottles of gasoline, and set my father-in-law, Adem Mara, on fire..."
According to Servete's testimony, it is not the first time that Majlinda has set fire to her father, Adem Mara's, room.
