Velçë, the village on the right bank of the Shushica stream

The photos are from the years 1930-1932 and speak a lot about the beauties of the Albanian villages, even though the living was harsh.

The photos were taken from the collection of the Austrian geographer Ernst Nowack, who has crossed Albania in a difficult expedition.

He travels along Shushica, then appears in Qafën e Llogorasë, continues in Dhërmi e Himara and up to Palasë.

On these types of trips the only means were horses and a good guide.

And to think that this is only a small part of his testimony through the paths of the Albanian mountains!
