GJKKO decided today the immediate release from prison of the chairman of the Expropriation Commission, Pëllumb Abeshi. He was accused of falsifying documents in the expropriation of the land where the Fieri incinerator was to be built, he was arrested in March 2022, but he was released today.

The arrest of Pëllumb Abesh by order of SPAK, surprised quite a few people, mainly those who had worked with him during a long and academic career but also the successful management of a number of state institutions.

This, not only because Prof. Dr. Pellumb Abeshi is considered one of the best experts in the country regarding innovative green policies, but he would be the last person who could make a mistake in his decisions.

A high-level technician, Abeshi has 25 years of academic research work and is the author of many scientific publications in prestigious international journals.

Prof. Dr. During his career, Abeshi was part of the academic world in the years 2002-2012, 2002-2009 he was the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment. Since 2009, he has held the position of General Director of Environmental Policies and Priorities Implementation, etc.

Arrested together with 9 other officials, Abeshi seems to have served SPAK more as a statistic to inflate the number of arrests that became a "sensational" echo in the media, often abusing even the presumption of innocence. .

A bad luck similar to SPAK also affected the vice-chairman of the ALF, Arben Dervishaj, who supervised the works of the Fier incinerator. Dervishaj was kept in prison, then placed under house arrest and finally managed to gain complete innocence after the Special Court overturned all the charges brought against him, such as corruption and abuse of office. Even in an unprecedented case, SPAK accused Dervishaj of "abuse of duty" while he did not hold a state post, but was part of the private sector.
