Since the beginning of this year, the drop in the price level and the devaluation of the euro had visible effects on Albanian exports. But what do the official data signal in eight months for the map of Albanian exports?
During the eight months, exports of goods reached the value of 255 billion ALL, decreasing by 14.9%, while imports of goods reached the value of 595 billion ALL, increasing by 3.2%, compared to a year ago. This decrease of almost 15% of exports was mainly influenced by fuels and textiles, where the latter continued to contribute to the decrease month after month.
Scan Intel focused mainly on the names of the top 10 partners to see how their weight has changed over the course of eight months, compared to a year ago. According to the data, the four main partners, Italy, Kosovo, Greece and Germany, have remained unchanged, compared to the January-August period of last year.
Small changes are observed in the weight of each country to the total, where we can mention the increase that Italy had with 0.8 points and Kosovo with 1.3 points. On the other hand, we see that the share of Greece for the eight-month period of this year has fallen from 7% to 6.2%.
North Macedonia is seen to have replaced Spain in sixth place this year, always if we refer to the 10 main partners in terms of exports. Also, China has moved to seventh place in terms of its weight in the total of our exports, moving ahead of Serbia and Montenegro.
Meanwhile, what is noticeable from the map of the main partners is the exit of the United Kingdom from the list and the entry of Slovakia with a weight to the total of 1.7%.
But, prior to weight, how is the annual change in value of our main partners in terms of exports? During this eight-month period, the country with which Albania had the biggest decrease in exports, compared to a year ago, is Spain with 41%, followed by Montenegro with 26%, North Macedonia with 24% and Greece with 24 %. Italy, Germany, Serbia and Kosovo also show a decline. Only China among the top 10 partners is showing growth.
