August of accidents, compared to 2023 there were 48 percent more "crashes"

Increased traffic on our roads translates immediately to more accidents. This is not because of the roads, but because of the drivers. This is confirmed by the fact that in August, when immigrants return, and on Fridays, when people move for the weekend, the flow of collisions on the road is higher.

According to data published by INSTAT in August 2024, 173 road accidents occurred. Compared to August of a year ago, when 117 accidents were recorded, their number increased by 48%.

In addition to accidents, the number of injured people has also increased. In August 2024, there were a total of 252 accidents (killed and injured), with an increase of 40% compared to the same period of the previous year. (INSTAT announces that the published data are preliminary and subject to updating). For the 8th month, a total of 1086 accidents were recorded, with an increase of 41% on an annual basis.

Road accidents, in 91.9% of cases, occurred as a result of the driver's behavior. The highest number of accidents, in this period, was committed by the 25-34 age group, accounting for 25.4% of the total number of accidents.

In August 2024, the highest number of road accidents occurred on Friday with 22.5%, while the lowest number of accidents occurred on Tuesday, with 8.1%.
