The European Union Delegation in Tirana has officially welcomed Albania's membership in the European payment system, SEPA.
In a post on social media, the delegation evaluates this development as an important step within the framework of the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which brings direct benefits to Albanian citizens and businesses.
" Albania is now part of the European payment system (SEPA) - a concrete step of the EU Growth Plan, which reduces costs and speeds up transfers. This means more convenience for Albanian families and businesses, as well as more connections with European Union countries ," the EU Delegation in Tirana stressed in its response.
In an informative video, the EU explains that through this system Albania can save up to 20 million euros per year, thanks to a more efficient and unified way of payments. “ SEPA makes every payment and transfer cheaper, safer and faster, giving Albanian citizens and businesses access to modern and instant payments ,” the published material further states.
