Shares of Xiaomi fell nearly 9% after a fatal accident involving its SU7 electric car, Bloomberg reports.
According to the newspaper, a 31-year-old driver in China crashed into another vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane, and the car burst into flames. Witnesses tried to pull the man out, but the doors were locked after the power went out, and the driver died at the scene.
Police said he may have been drunk. However, online discussions have already erupted over possible problems with the door locking system of the SU7 - a flagship model on which Xiaomi had pinned high hopes for its entry into the automotive industry.
