The Vodafone Foundation in Albania has officially launched the implementation of the Instant Network Emergency Response (INER) program, placing Albania among seven new local centers part of the Vodafone Group Foundation's global instant emergency response network.

The news was announced after a three-day training (March 2-4), during which Albanian technical teams were trained in building institutional and operational capacities for immediate intervention in establishing connection/connectivity in times of crisis and civil emergencies. This center, the first of its kind in Albania, has the necessary tools and material base in full readiness 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to enable and carry out immediate and effective intervention with specialized teams during crises or cases of natural disasters.

The expansion of the global network also includes the Czech Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ireland, Mozambique and Portugal, adding to the four existing hubs in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany and Greece. According to the Vodafone Group Foundation, this expansion aims to increase global preparedness and accelerate crisis response.

The establishment of this center in Albania, through the immediate activation of the network infrastructure and the use of alternative connectivity solutions, including satellite technologies, makes it possible for the No. 1 Network in Albania to be an indispensable partner to national public institutions and authorities, emergency services and affected communities, ensuring access to communication as a vital service. The equipment deployed in Albania within the framework of the INER program includes a series of technological solutions for the restoration of communication in the early stages of emergencies, more specifically in:

1. secure Wi-Fi units

2. charging stations

3. solar powered generators

4. quick tools for restoring connectivity

These devices are designed to restore communication within the first 72 hours, a critical period for the coordination of rescue and relief operations. The center in Albania will function as a national asset in support of institutions such as the National Civil Protection Agency, the Ministry of Interior, the Armed Forces and the State Police, as well as the 112 emergency service.

The local center aims to improve the speed of intervention in emergency cases, increase cost and energy efficiency, strengthen local capacities through training of Albanian engineers, and enable access to deep or difficult areas.

Justin Waller, head of the INER program at the Vodafone Group Foundation, emphasized that the new model with local centers "enables a faster and more effective response, building on experiences from previous emergency operations."

While Lisa Felton, head of the Vodafone Group Foundation, said that the creation of the new centers "demonstrates the commitment to improving emergency preparedness and response through the use of local resources and expertise."

The program also includes specialized, technical training for Vodafone Albania engineers and volunteers, as well as training in hazardous conditions (HEAT) that enables preparedness and coping with situations during times of crisis.

The center in Albania will be jointly funded by Vodafone Group Foundation and Vodafone Albania, as part of a long-term collaboration to strengthen emergency response capacities. This development positions Albania as an important node in the international crisis response network, increasing the country's capacity to cope with emergency situations and support affected communities.
