The needy strata in 14 municipalities of the country will have more opportunities to benefit from the expansion of social services. From more medical aid but improvement of the standard of living, the European Union will implement the project "EU for social care" worth 3.1 million euros.
"The objective of this project is to reach 6,000 families in need through cooperation in 14 municipalities of Albania. I think it is important to work with them. "Municipalities have an inherent role to play in improving the quality of life of their residents and in implementing EU standards in all policy areas," said EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato.
For a 3-year period in the municipality, assistance will be focused on the establishment and extension of social care services that address the needs and rights of vulnerable groups. The Minister of Health Albana Koçiu announced the beneficiary layers from the conference.
"It has become possible that no. of social services offered to be over 70. This project allows us to further strengthen the partnership with 14 local units from north to south and east to west. I will also allow the improvement of residential services, the increase of access to remote areas and the strengthening of the financial stability of these services", declared Minister Koçiu.
The municipalities in which the attention will be focused are also those that have been affected by natural disasters, suffering rather the need for services, especially in the deep areas of the country.
"Covering of these services due to lack of budgets, it is impossible for us to cover the entire territory with social services. In addition to our resources in the municipality, we extend our hand as a municipality to every partner", added mayor Cara.
The project, which is in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and World Vision, will help municipalities until 2026.
